Professional Experience

Alex brings over 20 years of high-level experience in investment banking and investment management, with deep expertise in mergers & acquisitions, infrastructure and utilities, equity capital markets, capital structure advisory, and investor engagement.

 

He commenced his career at Deutsche Bank before moving to UBS, where he initially focused on mergers & acquisitions advisory for companies in the infrastructure and utilities sector. He later transitioned to equity capital markets, ultimately becoming Managing Director and Co-Head of Equity Capital Markets for Australia and New Zealand. In this role, Alex advised on over 130 capital markets transactions, providing strategic advice on capital raising, investor engagement and capital structure optimisation.

Since 2023, Alex has served as CEO of Wattlestone, a Brisbane-based private investment group. Wattlestone’s portfolio spans Australian real estate, hospitality, business services, agriculture, critical minerals, as well as diversified listed equities, fixed income and private equity assets. He also holds current positions as Non-Executive Chairman of Travellers Group and Non-Executive Director of Valont.

 

Alex’s extensive transaction experience, capital markets leadership and hands-on investment management expertise continue to strengthen GERAF’s deal origination, capital structuring and portfolio oversight capabilities.

2003-2004: UQ, Honours in Finance (Class 1), University Medal

2000-2005: UQ, Bachelor’s degree in Law, with Honours
